Turkeys run across my front lawn every day. Dozens of them, sometimes. Here in Texas there is even a town called Turkey, named for the wild turkeys that lived along the creek when the town was founded. So we are used to turkeys around here. It is fun watching the turkeys’ heads pump back and forth as they run and how, as a group, they can’t run in a straight line for anything. They will run a little, then fly for a few feet, then walk aimlessly around for a while. Turkeys aren’t always like this, however. The other day I saw a video of a turkey chasing a police officer. The police officer was scared and running away from it as if he was being chased by a criminal waving around a sawn-off shotgun. It was hilarious. That turkey wasn’t distracted at all…it had extreme focus. Proving my point that all of us perform better when we have a goal and a purpose behind our actions.
